Shadow Vision by Samantha Storm
Reviewer: Tammie King of Night Owl Romance Reviews
Score: 5 / 5 Hearts

Shadow Vision was written with layer upon layer of texture. It drew me in from page one and held me tight till the very end. Van and Friday were both characters that I grew to love and I was with them to the very end. They had a tough battle, but with some magic, love and fate they triumphed and kicked some demon tush. I also loved many of the secondary characters who all made this book well rounded and added many wonderful scenes and kept me grounded until the end.

When Friday Maxwell is attacked by demons after she finished one of her demon killing workshops fate takes over and delivers her into the hands of a hunky and powerful man. Somehow he can kill demons just by touching them, which is real odd since he is not a demon hunter.

Friday finds out that Van Spencer is very special and there are very few men born with the inherent skills that he has. Her rescuer is a Gypsy among Gypsies and son to the Gypsy Queen. He is the only person who can save them all, but he will need Friday to succeed in the end. As their love grows they will enter the tunnels that lead down past the gypsy camps and into the bowls of the demon world. They will only survive if they can stay with each other.

Killing the demons is not as easy as just going down and touching them. There are betrayers in the camp and they hungry to turn Van and Friday. Also, the demons have been stealing gypsy children. For years they have stayed away from the gypsies. They were afraid of them. The gypsies had learned many lessons and ways to kill the demons and had even slowly taken over land that the demons had inhabited. But the demons have grown strong and are ready to move boundaries again. Will Van and Friday make it back to the city alive? Will they die along the way and can they save the children or will they all be sacrificed?

Theodore “Teddy” Madison was used to the Christmas party being wild, but this year’s party went too far! Everybody knows their boss, nicknamed Mr. Wiggles, can’t keep his hands to himself but why would someone want him dead? Is it Mrs. Wiggles or someone else at the party? Teddy has to find out soon as she is the prime suspect!

If you’ve ever been to one of those office parties where everyone gets a little too drunk and things get out of hand, then you’ll recognize the setting for Samantha Storm’s tale. The description of Mr. Wiggles is hysterical as just about everyone has met a Mr. Wiggles at one of those office parties. So isn’t it just fitting that he is the one to die? So many suspects… and Samantha Storm does an exceptional job at keeping the reader guessing as to just who is the guilty party.

MURDER, MAYHEM AND MISTLETOE has some fun, quirky moments. I laughed out loud at some of the antics of Teddy and her friends. The shorter format of this story made the mystery element all the more impressive as Samantha Storm did an excellent job at building the intrigue. Chick lit readers will probably appreciate the other aspects of the tale more so than romance readers, however, as Teddy flits from one explicit sexual encounter in the dark to flirting with Detective Jason Rogers without any opportunity for much emotional depth. Despite this, MURDER, MAYHEM AND MISTLETOE is a fun tale.

Night Owl Romance Reviews

Review: Murder, Mayhem & Mistletoe is a sexy romp of comical intrigue and outlandish behavior between close friends that will leave you laughing throughout this short entertaining story. Theodora aka Teddy and her co-worker friends are attending a Christmas party at work. When the hated boss is found murdered with Teddy’s own letter opener, she knows she’ll be the prime suspect. Her and her friend, Paula, concoct a plan to hide the murder weapon, which leads Teddy to an erotic interlude with an unknown stranger, and straight into police custody. When an unexpected confession comes from someone else, she is released. She doesn’t believe the real killer has been caught and sets out, with her friend, to solve the murder herself.

With witty dialog and hilarious hi-jinx, Teddy leads her friend through a list of suspects. Along the way, she flirts with the sexy detective on the case and discovers an attraction between them that may be worth risking a relationship over. This was a fun read and I found myself laughing at the crazy situations that Teddy and her good friend Paula were constantly in. The two friend’s relationship is kind of Abbot and Costello-ish with mischief and mayhem aplenty but strong ties between them. Although there is meaningless sex, we’re left with Teddy’s possibilities of a more serious relationship with the sexy detective, which I liked. It’s a light-hearted and sexy adventure of ‘who done it’ that captures the bond of a friendship and delivers some erotic treats. Samantha Storm penned a great short story that will leave a smile on your face and was a pleasure for me to read.

Four and 1/2 lips from Two lips reviews for Murder, Mayhem and Misletoe!

Theodora Madison sips on her seltzer and watches her drunken cohorts lose all control. As the tenth floor designated driver, she doesn’t know whether she is or glad or mad that she is the only one sober at her company's annual Christmas party. This worry pales into insignificance when somebody is murdered with Teddy’s letter opener, making her the prime suspect. She needs a drink and to hell with the designated driver crap!

Samantha Storm creates a hilarious mystery with white-hot sex and you don’t know if you want to laugh uproariously or squirm in this very funny book! Murder, Mayhem and Mistletoe is about Teddy trying to prove her innocence at a party full of partying employees who are too drunk to know that a murder has been committed. You can see that Ms. Storm totally enjoyed herself while writing this book and I wonder how she could type if she was laughing as hard I was while reading it. For a rip-roaring, bellyaching laugh Murder, Mayhem and Mistletoe is a must read regardless of the season! - TwoLips Reviews

Murder, Mayhem and Mistletoe

With the drawing of the short straw, Teddy Madison has been dubbed the designated driver at the office Christmas party. She is expecting a boring night watching the drunken antics of her co-workers but the night takes a drastic turn when Teddy and her best friend Paula discover their boss dead in his office. After finding the body, Teddy sees that the murder weapon is her own letter opener and knows that she will be blamed for the old man’s death. It doesn’t help matters that as she’s backing out of the room, she trips and falls right into the dead man’s lap.

Teddy decides that the best option is to hide the murder weapon and wait until someone discovers the body. When Teddy finds a darkened office, she figures it will be as good a place as any to await the body’s discovery and the police. But after entering the office, she soon finds herself leaning against a strong male body that definitely makes the night start looking better.

Murder, Mayhem and Mistletoe by Samantha Storm is a fascinating story that I thought was a breath of fresh air. The characters in this tale were surprisingly well detailed and full of charisma for such a short story. The antics of some of the party guests had me laughing out loud as I pictured them in their drunken party state, and the mystery surrounding the boss’s death added just the right amount of anticipation to the story. 4 Angels.

Eye of the Storm

Some people are born with extraordinary gifts. Those possessing varying mental powers are secretly known as “Talents”.

Despite a legendary father, testing hasn’t shown Katlin Campbell to be a particularly strong Talent. Unfortunately, that will not stop her from being unwittingly pulled into the middle of a huge conspiracy. One that could quickly get her killed.

Ryker Duncan is a man haunted by his past, and it has put him on a mission for vengeance. Thus far it has yielded minimal results. But he’s sure he has found an advantage worth exploiting when he stumbles upon Katlin and learns that she has inadvertently attained possibly invaluable secrets. Now he just has to protect her long enough to extract the information – from the depths of her mind.

On the run, Katlin only has Ryker to rely upon. But can she trust a man that seemingly has no qualms about selling her out? And how will Katlin and Ryker deal with the attraction brewing between them?

One of the best words to describe this paranormal romance is absorbing. Ms. Storm has constructed a plot filled with action, packed with the supernatural, heavy with sexual chemistry, and supplemented with a few surprises that will keep readers on their toes. As such, readers will be hard-pressed to avoid being quickly pulled into this conspiracy right along with Katlin and Ryker.

As far as great heroines with superpowers go, Katlin made for a wonderful addition and she provided a fun balance to the strong and sexy Ryker’s brooding nature. Ms. Storm built the romantic tension between Katlin and Ryker very well so that is was like a force to be reckoned with. Eye of the Storm was quite a fascinating read and I am already anticipating the next installment.

Portrait of Death

For the past year, Julia Madison has been living as a hermit due to a horrible car accident that caused her bodily injuries and killed her sister. As an aspiring artist, her paintings before the accident were filled with beautiful works of landscaping; but now, her paintings only consist of chilling scenes of dead women.

On one dark and stormy night, Julia is stunned to find to a handsome, mysterious man standing in her living room questioning her about her artwork. Even more, Julia is shocked to find herself strongly attracted to this strange man who introduced himself as Logan Walker. Instant sparks fly between Julia and Logan and almost immediately they find themselves caught up in a heated love affair. As time goes on, Julia soon learned that someone was stalking her? Soon Julia begins to wonder is Logan her knight in shining armor or could he possibly be a stalker who is threatening to end her life?

Portrait of Death is an intriguing tale filled with suspense, danger and romance. Authors Nicholas and Storm did a magnificent job of capturing my interest with the mystery between Julia’s paintings and the serial killer who was stalking her. I was hooked from start to finish. Julia was a lost soul drowning in sorrow and pain. While, Logan was a sexy, beguiling man who was able to uplift Julia spirits and bring joy back into her life. Julia and Logan had great chemistry together. The way these two reacted sexually was sizzling hot and heated up the pages. So, if you are looking for a great suspenseful read jam-packed with red-hot passion then Portrait of Death is the perfect book.

After spending four months in a coma that was caused by the car accident that killed her sister, Julia Madson has been living in a whirlwind of pain and confusion. Since waking up from the coma, she has had visions of women being murdered, which she transcribes through her paintings. Trying to drown out the horrors of her new life, Julia is shocked when she meets mysterious Logan Walker, the one man who slowly pulls her out of her shell and opens her heart to love. But when the imaginary subjects of her paintings turn out to be real people, Julia is shocked to discover that her subjects are actually victims and the scenes she paints are quite real. As sinister forces threaten her future, will Logan's love make her the next victim in her paintings?

While the mystery surrounding the horror-filled paintings makes this novella a gripping tale, the underlying love story burns beneath the surface. At first, I was pulled in by Julia's self destructive personality and her need to drown her pain with alcohol. She's a bit of a hermit but her reaction to Logan is downright extroverted. I loved seeing her metamorphosis to clear headed woman and felt inspired by her growth. Logan is a healer when it comes to helping Julia live once again. We don't really get much of a look into his past, or even his present, but the added mystery of not knowing his motives makes the suspense that much more intense. The scenes of loving companionship between them left me feeling heartened by Logan's romantic overtures. Several scenes are set in Arizona, and I enjoyed imagining the spectacular scenery in story's landscape. The sex scenes are quite dramatic and spicy, often leaving me looking for some of my own satisfaction. I don't think I'll look at Tequila in quite the same manner after reading one hot encounter. The exciting mystery around the paranormal connection between Julia and her paintings left a certain tingly amount of trepidation entwined through the plot, keeping me on the edge of my seat, waiting for the final scare to come along. If you are looking for a mystery with suspense, healing, and tons of fulfilling sex, Portrait of Death will leave you quite satisfied.
