Some people are born with extraordinary gifts. Those possessing varying mental powers are secretly known as “Talents”.

Despite a legendary father, testing hasn’t shown Katlin Campbell to be a particularly strong Talent. Unfortunately, that will not stop her from being unwittingly pulled into the middle of a huge conspiracy. One that could quickly get her killed.

Ryker Duncan is a man haunted by his past, and it has put him on a mission for vengeance. Thus far it has yielded minimal results. But he’s sure he has found an advantage worth exploiting when he stumbles upon Katlin and learns that she has inadvertently attained possibly invaluable secrets. Now he just has to protect her long enough to extract the information – from the depths of her mind.

On the run, Katlin only has Ryker to rely upon. But can she trust a man that seemingly has no qualms about selling her out? And how will Katlin and Ryker deal with the attraction brewing between them?

One of the best words to describe this paranormal romance is absorbing. Ms. Storm has constructed a plot filled with action, packed with the supernatural, heavy with sexual chemistry, and supplemented with a few surprises that will keep readers on their toes. As such, readers will be hard-pressed to avoid being quickly pulled into this conspiracy right along with Katlin and Ryker.

As far as great heroines with superpowers go, Katlin made for a wonderful addition and she provided a fun balance to the strong and sexy Ryker’s brooding nature. Ms. Storm built the romantic tension between Katlin and Ryker very well so that is was like a force to be reckoned with. Eye of the Storm was quite a fascinating read and I am already anticipating the next installment.

Katlin Campbell learned as a child that she has special powers. Katlin, her brother, and father belong to an elite group called The Talents. Her father works for an illegal organization called Vector. The boss threatens to bring his children into Vector, so Emerson hides his children's abilities. After her father’s death, Katlin turns to his former boss for help.

Ryker Duncan is a bodyguard trying to avenge his wife’s death. While on assignment, there is an explosion. Ryker sees a woman leaning over his client Halster’s body, and realizes that Halster has passed valuable information to her. He decides to use her as bait to gain the information he needs to bring Vector down.

When Katlin and Ryker face each other for the first time after the explosion, Katlin feels instant attraction. Ryker convinces her that her life is in danger and only he can help. She decides he makes a better ally than enemy and puts her life in his hands. They give in to their attraction and the sex is hot. However, Katlin does not know if Ryker’s feelings are true, or just sexual release. After a failed kidnap attempt on Katlin’s life, they escape to Ryker’s cabin and she meets someone named Rebecca, and wonders what this woman means to Ryker. They break into the Lodge and find some shocking information regarding Katlin’s father. Katlin wonders if her father really died from a heart attack, if he was murdered, or faked his own death?

Ms. Storm has written an exciting book filled with action and mystery throughout the pages. This book will leave you guessing until the final page when it reaches a shocking climax. There are many secrets to be revealed. And the powers of the mind will amaze you.

As a Talent, Katlin has found a job as a screener. She doesn’t have the power of her father or even her brother, but she’s learned to make do with what she has. Then unexpectedly Katlin finds herself helping a man about to die, but he takes the moment before his death to mentally transfer information into Katlin’s head. The images are sketchy, and she can’t make out anything as she finds herself running for her life. The dead guy’s protector has now taken on the job of seeing to her safety, and Katlin finds Ryker hard to resist.

Ryker has worked to gather information about the organization that killed his wife. His new assignment holds helpful knowledge that he can use; he just needs to figure out how to get it out of the guy’s head. When an explosion kills his assignment, Ryker is now faced with a beautiful woman who has innocently gained the knowledge Ryker desires. Can Ryker keep his feelings in check or will Katlin show him a new future?

Eye of the Storm is full of electricity you’ll feel down to your toes! Katlin and Ryker are both energetic as Ryker tries to fight to keep Katlin alive. With their special powers on display, Eye of the Storm will keep you glued to the pages. Ms. Storm knows how to develop characters and really bring them to life in an interesting and complex world. I know I’ll be looking for more from Samantha Storm.
